The Scope

An unprecedented three‐day interactive program aimed at experimenting with new ways of practicing interdisciplinarity. Participants (experts, post‐doctoral fellows, and doctoral students) will be given the opportunity to collaborate towards a concrete goal (see the projects), addressing issues relevant to their research, through a dialogue expressing multifaceted points of view and expertise from the humanities, creative and performing arts, law, economics, and biomedical and technical sciences. The meeting will start with a series of plenary lectures on the status of interdisciplinary research, challenges in global health, and imbalances in world wealth. We will be honored by the presence and contribution of Professor Hoosen Coovadia.

This will be followed by collaboration in and between four multidisciplinary groups to resolve outstanding problems requiring cooperation.

The meeting is expected to set a new standard in interdisciplinary education and research. It is the fruition of the two first World Knowledge Dialogue symposia held in Crans‐Montana in 2006 and 2008 (www.wkdialogue.org).
