Daniela Finke
Biographical Information
Daniela Finke, Prof. Dr. med., is at Division of Developmental Immunology, Center for
Biomedicine, University of Basel, Basel, Switzerland. Daniela Finke was born in Freiburg,
Germany in 1964. She studied Medicine at the University of Freiburg, Germany. In 1990
she received a fellowship to work with Prof. V. ter Meulen, former head of the Institute
of Virology, Wuerzburg and now president of the Leopoldina foundation (http://www.leopoldina-halle.de/e_index.htm).
Having received her MD degree (s.c.l) in 1994, she did
her medical internship at the University Hospital in Freiburg. In 1996, she joined the
group of Prof. H. Acha-Orbea, at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Lausanne
and then worked with Prof. J.P. Kraehenbuhl at ISREC, Lausanne, Switzerland. Since 2003
she holds an assistant professorship from the Swiss National Science Foundation at the
University of Basel, Switzerland where she works on the development of the immune system.
She recently won the 2008 Pfizer award for Rheumatology, Immunology and Clinical
