Zalina Ismail
Biographical Information

Zalina Ismail, is Professor of Neurophysiology, Coordinator of BRAINetwork and Deputy Dean of Research, School of Health Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia. Zalina Ismail is a medical doctor with a degree in law and a doctorate in neurophysiology. She is a fellow of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research. She lectures in physiology, bioethics and criminology and is pursuing her Masters in Law. Her research involves the neurogenetics of analgesia and the roles of c-fos and DREAM protein in the central processing of pain. She is also interested in the epigenetics of learning and memory. She coordinates the transdisciplinary BRAINetwork research cluster which focuses on the neuroplasticity of memory and learning and promotes translational research that benefits the community.
