Since January 2004 Bertil Andersson is Chief Executive of the European Science Foundation in Strasbourg.
From 1999-2003 he was the Rector of Linköping University in Sweden. He was appointed Professor of Biochemistry at Stockholm University 1986 and at Linköping University 2004 and is a visiting Professor and a Fellow of Imperial College London.
Bertil Andersson has been a member of the boards of several Swedish and international foundations and learned societies. He was also an advisor to the Swedish Minister of Education and Science. He is currently a member of the Nobel Foundation and was, during 1989-1997, a member of the Nobel Committee for Chemistry (Chairman 1997). Bertil Andersson’s research has been focused on molecular aspects of plants, in particular structure, function and regulation of photosynthesis, as published in about 300 articles in international journals. In his research he has frequently interacted with biotech industry, and is today, in his capacity as CEO of ESF, responsible for the coordination of various scientific funding actions with national research funding organisations.
Professor Andersson was elected Vice President of EURAB in early 2005. |
