Georges Haddad holds a PhD in Mathematical sciences. He is "Agrégé en mathématiques" and a University professor, former President of the University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne, from 1989 to 1994. He was the President of the Board of the World Conference on Higher Education (UNESCO, 1994-1999) and acts now as the Director of the Division of Higher Education of UNESCO.
