Ruth Dreifuss

After having worked as a civil servant in the field of development
cooperation and as a leader of the Swiss Labor Union, Ruth Dreifuss was
elected by the Parliament as one of the seven members of the Swiss
Government. From early 1993 to the end of 2002, she acted as Minister
of domestic affairs, with responsibility for public health, research,
higher education, social security and other political fields. Ruth
Dreifuss is now active in many national and international
organizations. She currently chairs the Commission on Intellectual
Property Rights, Innovation and Public Health of the WHO. |
