Wendy Hall
Professor of Computer Science at the University of Southampton, UK
Among many leadership roles, she is currently Senior Vice President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a member of the UK Prime Minister's Council for Science and Technology, a founder member of the Scientific Council of the European Research Council, and Vice-President of the Association for Computing Machinery. Professor Hall is also founding director of the Web Science Research Initiative, launched in 2006. The influence of her work in multimedia and hypermedia has been significant in many areas, including the development of the Semantic Web, and the interface between the life sciences and physical sciences.
